He joins at a crucial time as Gavi is mobilising for an ambitious replenishment for its next strategic phase.

Augustin Flory joined Gavi on 13 February as Managing Director, Innovative Partnerships and Development Finance, overseeing Gavi’s portfolio on development finance, innovative finance (including IFFIm), private sector partnerships and innovation. He is based in Washington DC, close to the IFFIm team. He joins at a crucial time as Gavi is mobilising for an ambitious replenishment for its next strategic phase.

“IFFIm is a crucial piece of Gavi’s financing toolkit, allowing the flexible frontloading of resources in support of immunisation programs,” he said. “We are looking forward to a strong IFFIm replenishment as part of a strong Gavi 6.0 replenishment.”

Mr Flory has more than 20 years of experience working on private and development finance, including project finance, resource mobilisation, innovative financing, resource tracking and accountability, and finance capacity strengthening.

Immediately before joining Gavi, Mr Flory was an independent consultant and the Finance Expert of the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) movement Executive Committee and the Chair of its Finance Task Team, where he oversaw the design and launch of a new Country Finance Capacity Development Platform for SUN countries. Prior to this, he was Managing Director, Nutrition at the Results for Development Institute (R4D) where he successfully developed and lead the nutrition practice of R4D, positioning it as a leading NGO and go-to partner on nutrition financing, innovation and data. Prior to R4D, Mr Flory was Executive Director, Nutrition at the Children Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF). He led the creation of the Power of Nutrition, a new US$ 1 billion public-private innovative finance partnership to tackle malnutrition. He also was a key member of the African Development Bank team that raised a record US$ 9 billion for the 11th replenishment of the African Development Fund. He started his career as a project finance attorney in a private practice based in China.

Mr Flory has a Master of International Affairs from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, an LLB from King’s College, London and a master’s degree in law from the University of Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne.
