IFFIm Board of Directors welcomes three new members

The International Finance Facility for Immunisation (IFFIm) is pleased to announce the appointment of three distinguished new members to its Board of Directors. Eila Kreivi and Rachel Turner will join the board in July 2024, and Jeffrey Diehl will join in September 2024.

The International Finance Facility for Immunisation (IFFIm) is pleased to announce the appointment of three distinguished new members to its Board of Directors. Eila Kreivi and Rachel Turner will join the board in July 2024, and Jeffrey Diehl will join in September 2024.

Eila Kreivi

Eila Kreivi

Eila Kreivi will join the IFFIm Board on 1 July 2024 for a three-year term. Ms Kreivi brings extensive experience in sustainable finance, having served as Director and Chief Sustainable Finance Advisor at the European Investment Bank (EIB). She stepped down from active EIB service in February 2024 and now serves as an independent sustainable finance expert and advisor. In March 2024, she joined the Board of Directors of Finnvera, a state-owned special financing company in Finland, and is also a member of the Platform on Sustainable Finance, an advisory body created by the European Commission.

Previously, she headed the Capital Markets Department at the EIB and recently acted as an external expert to the High-Level Working Group on the Environmental Consequences of the War in Ukraine. She is a regular interlocutor on ESG topics to the European Stability Mechanism and was elected to the Board of Directors of the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) in July 2020. Ms Kreivi holds a Master of Science degree in Economics from the University of Åbo Akademi in Finland and is fluent in Finnish, English, French and Swedish.

Rachel Turner

Rachel Turner

Rachel Turner will also join the IFFIm Board on 1 July 2024 for a three-year term. She has had a long career in international development and development finance, having served in various senior roles at the UK Department for International Development and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). An economist by training, Ms Turner has held various roles shaping multilateral strategy and delivering bilateral aid, covering humanitarian, human development, private sector and capital market programs, including in fragile contexts. She has a deep understanding of the multilateral system, including global health funds, and has lived and worked in Africa. She led the UK development program in Mozambique and was Director for East Africa for several years. 

Most recently, she was the Director for International Finance at the FCDO, responsible for UK policy and financing for the World Bank, regional development banks, debt, green capital markets, disaster risk financing and international taxation. Ms Turner has been closely involved in designing and delivering innovative financial instruments and was integral to the original design and development of IFFIm.

Jeff Diehl

Jeff Diehl

Jeff Diehl will join the IFFIm Board on 1 September 2024 for a three-year term. Mr Diehl is currently the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of the Coalition for Green Capital (CGC), a non-profit dedicated to halting climate change by accelerating investment in clean energy technologies. He has over 40 years of experience in public, environmental, and capital market finance. Prior to CGC, Mr. Diehl was CEO and Executive Director of the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank, which provides technical assistance and investments in key infrastructure projects including water, transportation, brownfield remediation, clean energy, stormwater management and climate resiliency for various stakeholders. 

Previously, he was the Managing Partner of Strategic Sovereign Advisors LLC, advising governments and financial institutions. Mr. Diehl also held senior positions at HSBC, including Vice Chairman – US Public Sector and Global Head of Public Sector Banking. He holds BA and MBA degrees from the University of Michigan.
