The Gavi Secretariat and IFFIm Board convened an IFFIm donors' meeting on 25 March to kick off the IFFIm replenishment conversation as part of the overall Gavi 6.0 replenishment ask.
Replenishment is the process by which donors, implementing countries, CSOs, vaccine manufacturers and other partners come together to mobilise the resources needed to support Gavi’s next five-year immunisation strategy, 6.0, covering the 2026 to 2030 period.
Gavi, IFFIm donors, the IFFIm Board and the World Bank had a productive meeting, during which they outlined IFFIm’s unique value propositions, building upon its significant achievements and impact. They highlighted critical drivers for IFFIm’s ask as part of Gavi’s overall ask, emphasising that IFFIm’s replenishment is critical in order to continue to provide meaningful support to Gavi.
“IFFIm's critical capabilities—frontloading and financial efficiency and flexibility—will be significant to Gavi’s 6.0 strategy and ambitious goals,” said Augustin Flory, Gavi’s Managing Director, Innovative Partnerships & Development Finance, Resource Mobilisation and Growth. “These goals include accelerating the zero-dose agenda and increasing the uptake of high-impact breakthrough and existing vaccines, such as malaria and hexa.”
Donors welcomed the launch of this important conversation on IFFIm's replenishment, providing valuable feedback and seeking clarifications on some aspects. They noted the crucial role played by IFFIm in the past and emphasised the importance of making a strong case for IFFIm’s replenishment for Gavi 6.0.
“It is important to understand donors’ authorising environment, including the issues they are facing, which will help inform the IFFIm Investment case and outreach to other potential new donors,” said IFFIm Board Chair Ken Lay.
“As we start developing the IFFIm case to complement the Gavi IO, it is critical that donors actively participate in the co-creation process,” added Flory.
